“There’s not enough hours in the day!!”
That is the shriek my husband has been putting up with almost every day throughout July and this week as I scrambled to do all the things I’d like to do and read about all the things that I am interested in.
So, as is always the case when there are not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want, I need to focus my attention on fewer things so that I don’t spin my wheels. I like the Renaissance Soul book by Margaret Lobenstine that I read recently – she suggests to have four focus points and stick with those for a period of time.
My last month has been a mish-mash of scattered focus as I moved into a new house, started a new job, been attending a number of meetup.com events to make new friends, went interstate to go to a wedding, and spent my weekends being quiet as my husband was working night shifts. But this month things are going back to normal and I can concentrate on a few key areas. Three out of four of my key areas this month are all related to health!
My August Focus Points
- Strengthen my endocrine system – I’ve been charting my Basal Body Temperature (BBT) every day and I have noticed a swing from the normal pattern which may be caused by stress or other factors. I think its important to get onto these types of things straight away so I am going to be monitoring it carefully and get some tests etc so that I get a big picture. Never let health swing out the wrong way – always keep it strong.
- Lose 3kg to get back to my previous weight – I’ve gained 3kg and not feeling happy with that. After plotting my diet on nutridiary.com I discovered why – my sweet tooth has been active again recently and snacking on dried and fresh fruit is causing me to eat too many calories! So I want to get on top of this and reverse the habit.
- Complete C25K – I started exercising again after I bought my Vibram FiveFingers Shoes and now I want to complete the C25K program, which stands for Couch to 5k run. In 10 weeks on the interval running program I should be able to run 5k!
- Setup my wetpots garden – I bought a wetpots system for my balcony and I haven’t quite got it set up yet because its always nighttime when I get home from work. But I’d like to get some plants into it and focus on that this month.
So because I have three health-related goals I am thinking of restricting my use of the computer so that I have more time to spend actively doing things. Its all very well reading all my emails, reading newsletters about the state of the economy and my usual reading about health topics, but if I want to complete goals that do not relate back to my computer then I have to get off it and be active!
So I started by jumping on the computer and writing a blog post about getting off the computer, LOL
Well, I will be posting my progress to my goals somewhere, and that will involve the computer, but this month I’m planning to spend minimal time on it. Lets see how this goes!
